Serum Default Presets

Open Serum’s Presets Folder Start by opening Serum. Now go to the menu in the top right corner and click “Show Serum Presets folder”. You should see these folders (this screenshot is a bit old by now, so you should see some additional ones).

  1. Serum’s default synth library contains presets from third-party sound designers, producers and artists, so you know that the sounds are not only quality but also practical. Artists like Evol Intent, SeamlessR and others have made presets for Serum.
  2. Whether you've downloaded a single preset file or a full folder, it is easy to import the newly acquired presets into Serum. Inside Serum, click on the Menu button and select Show Serum Presets folder. This action will open the folder on your computer where Serum stores all of its presets for effects chains, LFO shapes, noises, tables, and more.
  3. 'Shocking Bedroom Pop For Serum' is the only soundset that combines LoFi characteristic and modern sounds. These presets share elements with Indie, Pop & Hip Hop genres. Unlike other soundbanks, Bedroom Pop doesn't sound anything like other presets in our collection.

  • Joe,
Can you share how one can adjust the init preset in serum and save it so it loads up as the default? I remember you went over this in a video but I can’t figure out which one.

I’m not aware of a feature that lets you do that. In the video I mention that once you initialize the synth, all you have to do is change the voice mode to Mono, and it would be just like Syntorial’s synth.

I take it back. There was a Serum update after we made the Lesson Pack that added the following feature:

“if you save a preset as default.fxp (or Default.fxp) located in /User subfolder of /Presets, Serum will load this preset on new instantiations of Serum.”
